Hello from the Priddis Valley Gardens! I hope you are having an excellent summer! Ideally you’re just having way too much fun to read a long email, so I’ll make this newsletter short and sweet. A message below, and then a list of special dates, lectures and classes at the Gardens.
Reminder that there is a summer clearance on plants, so come on out! Lots of neat garden décor and artwork is also for sale.
Honesty and the Path of Compassion
I want to touch quickly on a point that is coming up repeatedly in my readings right now. Generally when this happens, I know it’s something I need to communicate more widely.
We must grow the practice of honesty in our relationships even when we think that it will result in conflict, loss of control, or loss of a relationship. Honesty doesn’t mean being brutal or offering attacks. True honesty is gentle, and involves compassion for our needs and the needs of those around us. Lack of honesty means lack of joy. Why settle for less than joy?
What happens when we’re not honest about our needs, about our goals, about any part of ourselves? We implode with sickness and stress. We also become explosive in ways that are inappropriate. Road rage. Taking out stress on those we love. And the final result is that we hurt the people around us and ourselves even more than if we’d just been honest in the first place.
You are a unique individual and you have the right to speak your truths, and to nurture those truths and your particular needs. You must also listen to the truths of those around you, with compassion and without judgement, so that we are all free to be the best we can be, and to vibrate with our true life’s purpose.
Special Dates at the Priddis Valley Gardens
- August 20 7pm – Summer Party - Live music, DJs, bar & dancing. Admission $10.
- Sept 3 , 1pm – Past Lives – Lecture followed by question period. Free admission.
- Sept 10 7pm– Annual Pig Roast! The PVG’s premiere end-of-summer party!! Tix are $35 and include a huge buffet supper and live music all night by local greats, the Latin-Jazz ensemble Cumako. You don’t want to miss this amazing night.
- Sept 17 & 18, 10am-6pm. Tarot Class. Learn how to read tarot cards for yourself and others. Includes lunch on both days and a deck of Tarot cards. This is going to be a really intense weekend!! $300/person.
- Sept 24 , 1pm-5pm Ladies’ Day – live music, market, short readings, coffee & snacks. Free admission.
- Oct 1, 1pm – Honesty & Emotions – Lecture followed by question period. Free admission.
